ATHLETIC have announced the signing of a new defender on a loan deal from EFL (English Football League) League One outfit Birmingham City.

This afternoon, Tommy Fogarty has completed a move to KDM Group East End Park until the end of the season to become the club's third arrival in four days.

The 20-year-old, a product of Birmingham's youth set-up, agreed fresh terms with his parent club last summer, keeping him at St Andrew's until June 2026, having signed his first professional contract two years ago, following a two-year scholarship.

Fogarty, who has made youth appearances at international level for both Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland, has represented City in both the FA Youth Cup and Premier League 2, and had a loan spell in the Vanarama National League with Ebbsfleet United earlier this year.

He has gone on to represent Northern Ireland at under-21 level, winning six caps so far, and will be aiming to add to that tally when the side - managed by former St Johnstone boss, Tommy Wright - play England and Ukraine in qualifying for the 2025 UEFA European Under-21 Championships next month.

Fogarty, who during pre-season worked with Birmingham's first team, checks in at East End following the arrivals of goalkeeper Tobi Oluwayemi, who completed a season-long loan switch from Celtic on Thursday, and midfielder, Josh Cooper, on Friday.

Cooper made his Pars debut from the bench during yesterday's 1-0 defeat at Hamilton Academical, with Oluwayemi named on the bench.
