AN EVENT bringing together stars who took the Pars to the Scottish Cup final 20 years ago is set to take place next month.

The Carnegie Hall will be the venue for a nostalgic celebration of Athletic's memorable run to Hampden courtesy of The Pars Supporters Trust.

'Celebrating 20 years of the PST - The Road to Hampden 2004' will provide fans with a special night reminiscing on how the team, packed with stars such as Stevie Crawford, Craig Brewster, Barry Nicholson and Andrius Skerla, took Dunfermline to Scottish football's showpiece for the first time in 36 years.

Taking place on Friday September 27, with kick off at 7.45pm, the evening will mark two decades since the PST were founded, as well as the achievements of the squad led by manager, Jimmy Calderwood.

A number of players who were with the club during the 2003/04 season will be at the event, which will also feature archive BBC footage of every round, recalling all the iconic moments of Dunfermline's run to the national stadium.

After seeing off Dundee United in the third round, Dunfermline then defeated Clyde, at the second attempt, after snow caused the initial fixture to be abandoned, and Partick Thistle on their way to the semi-finals.

An equaliser from Brewster saw them draw with Inverness Caledonian Thistle at Hampden, which led to a replay at Aberdeen's Pittodrie Stadium.

Despite falling behind, the Pars went on to win the match 3-2 - which included a magnificent solo goal from Nicholson - to reach the final and qualify for the following season's UEFA Cup (now Europa League) competition.

In the final, Skerla headed Athletic ahead in the first half, but two goals from iconic Hoops forward, Henrik Larsson, and a late strike from Stiliyan Petrov, denied them the chance to lift the famous trophy for a third time in their history.

It will be the first time the players from the 2004 journey have been celebrated in such a way and, with the show being one-night only, tickets are likely to sell fast.

Since 2004, the PST have been at the forefront of the Save and Buy the Pars campaigns, rallying both the fans and generous members of the public, when the club suffered financial difficulties in 2013.

The organisation has also gone on to fund improvements at KDM Group East End Park, supporting the development of young players and representing the fans voice, which they will continue to do as the club's DAFC Fussball GmbH investment group prepares to sell its stake.

Tickets are available for £23 plus any booking fees, with PST members eligible for a discount, whilst a VIP offering, allowing a prime seat, pre-theatre meet and greet, welcome drink, goody bag and exclusive merchandise discount, is also available for £45.

Tickets go on sale this morning (Thursday) at 10am, and can be bought from the box office between 10am-12.30pm, and 1.30-4pm Monday to Friday, or online at https://www.onfife.com/event/celebrating-20-years-of-the-pst-the-road-to-hampden-2004-cb41/.
