SIX athletes from PH Racing Club picked up medals when they competed in the recently-held Scottish National Para and Masters Championships.

Taking place in Dundee, representatives from the club won a gong in every event that they entered, bringing home 12 in total.

Events were held over distances ranging from 100 to 1500 metres, the first time that PH have been represented over some of those, and three sprint events brought three medals for Alistair Radbourne in the V55 age category.

In times of 13.44 and 28.03 seconds respectively, he picked up 100m and 200m silver, before adding bronze in the 400m with a run of 63.30.

Mary Western also tried her hand at the 100m, having never raced it before, and, having been unable to break 20 seconds in practice, was very happy to come away with a V60 bronze medal for a run of 17.14.

She then followed that success by winning gold over a more familiar 800m, topping the podium in a time of two minutes and 45.71 seconds.

Mark Western ran in the 800m and 1500m, taking V55 bronze in both, with times of 2:39.37 and 5:21.29 respectively, whilst Ed Norton, in the V70 category, also ran those two disciplines.

He collected two gold medals to add to his collection, with terrific runs of 2:51.77 in the 800m, and 5:48.08 in the 1500m.

Norton also ran in the 5000m and completed a golden hat-trick by topping the podium in 20:55, whilst Paul Kieran, in the V45 age group, also ran that distance and was rewarded with a bronze medal in a time of 16:38.17.

David Burlton made the trip to the competition from Yorkshire and it proved worthwhile as, in a very competitive 1500m, he also won a bronze, with a run of 4:30.34, to cap a highly successful weekend for the club.
