NEW champions were crowned and history was made as Dunfermline Tennis Club hosted their annual finals day.

On Sunday, the climax of club competition, which they described as "an amazing day of tennis", took place on the courts at their Bothwell Street facility, and saw Scott Morrison win his first men's singles title whilst still a teenager.

In one of three victories he picked up - he was also successful in the under-18 boys singles, and the under-18 boys doubles, with Rowan Speed - Morrison was victorious against last year's winner, Lewis Mackintosh, after an epic battle between the pair.

History was also made in the women's singles as Jane Russell claimed a 16th title after another very close final against youngster, Scarlet Donnelly, who the club's head coach, Mike Russell, believes "could well be dominating the event for years to come".

The latter won the women's doubles, with Sally Gow, and picked up the under-14 girls and under-18 girls singles events.

Matthew Forrest and Lewis Mackintosh, and Mike Russell and Jane Russell, won the men's and mixed doubles respectively, whilst Elizabeth Smith and Carol Williams, and Rab Fleming and Alan Russell, claimed the vets (aged 45-and-over) women's and men's doubles.

In the handicap competitions, Martin Klauz and Lucy Wheeler won the mixed doubles; Gill Holmes and Elizabeth Smith claimed the ladies doubles; Rowan Speed and Fraser Speed won the men's doubles; and Carol Williams and Chris Gray won the ladies and men's singles respectively.

As well as those won by Morrison and Donnelly, junior titles were won by Eva Maria Corneanu (under-eight singles); Harrison Green (under-nine and under-10 singles); Cameron Quoi (under-12 boys singles); Marek Klauz and Adam Urquhart (under-14 boys doubles); and Marek Klauz (under-14 boys singles).
