DUNFERMLINE ATHLETIC Women have been handed another home tie in the Scottish Gas Scottish Cup after they progressed to round two on Sunday.

Charles Dignan's team hosted Kilwinning FA Ladies at Pitreavie in the first round of the competition and advanced after a 3-0 success.

The Ayrshire side, who play in Barclays Scottish Women's Football (SWF) League One, in which they are seventh with six points from five matches, faced a Pars side that had defeated Cumbernauld Colts in their SWFL (Scottish Women's Football League) Central league opener seven days previously.

Captain Hannah Colyer gave them the lead from a corner and, after substitute Isla Ferguson doubled their advantage, another player who came off the bench, Taylor Shields, sealed their place in the next round.

It is the third tie that Dunfermline have come through in the tournament so far, having previously defeated Aberdeen FC Ladies, and fellow West Fifers, Bayside Ladies, in the first and second preliminary rounds respectively.

They are one of only two sides - the other being Glenrothes Strollers - to have won through three rounds so far, and were rewarded with a tie at home to Stirling University.

Brian Graham, who combines playing for Partick Thistle's men's side with managing their women's team, helped carry out the draw on Monday evening, which saw the 12 Barclays SWF Championship sides enter the competition.

Those include Dunfermline's next opponents, who are fifth in the 12-team division, five points behind leaders, East Fife, having played a game fewer.

Ties will be played on Sunday November 3 and those who progress to the third round will be joined by clubs in Scottish Women's Premier League (SWPL) One and Two.

Meanwhile, the Pars are set to return to league action this weekend with a visit to Cumbernauld United Ladies on Sunday, who they lost to in a ScottishPower Regional League Cup match in August.

Bayside, who are top of the table on goal difference after winning their league opener against Carron Huskies Ladies, are scheduled to visit Cumbernauld Colts.
