Blackburn United 2 Crossgates Primrose 2
CROSSGATES PRIMROSE boss Alan Campbell insisted that he was "not too disappointed" despite watching his side concede a stoppage time equaliser at Blackburn United.
The Humbug Park outfit, who had won their previous five First Division matches on the bounce, looked set to make it six when Reece Bernard put them ahead with nine minutes to go.
However, a penalty allowed the home side to claim a point five minutes into time added on, with Kyle Connolly converting.
After a first period in which Campbell felt both teams "cancelled each other out", Andy Jones gave Blackburn the lead in the 62nd minute.
However, straight from kick off, Crossgates went up the other end and scored through Scott Hynd, taking his tally to 13 goals in just 11 matches.
Bernard's strike then looked to have given the away side maximum points, but Connolly's spot-kick ensured the spoils were shared.
"It's quite a hard game to analyse because there was a lot going on," Campbell reflected.
"In the first half, I thought both teams cancelled each other out. To be fair, we sorted a few things out at half-time and we came out in the second half and took control.
"I was really happy with the way we were playing, but we got caught by an absolute sucker-punch on the break. We responded really well, and scored straight from the kick off, and I thought from then on we were really good.
"It was a good shot from distance from Reece, and we had a couple of chances to kill the game off, but we didn't take them. I also thought we should've had a penalty.
"They got a penalty right at the death. We didn't think it was a penalty; it looked like a soft decision.
"I'm not too disappointed. In the second half we played quite well and it's a tough place to go."
Prior to the Blackburn game, Crossgates, who are third in the table, two points behind leaders Camelon, and second-top Newtongrange Star on goal difference, completed the signing of Innes Easton, who can play at full back or in midfield. He was included in their match day squad.
Inverkeithing Hillfield Swifts 0 Bo'ness Athletic 4
INVERKEITHING HILLFIELD SWIFTS saw their winless run extend to five matches after Bo'ness Athletic claimed victory in Dalgety Bay on Friday.
Gary Sibbald's team are just one place, and two points, above the drop zone after they lost for a fifth time in 10 outings in the First Division so far this season.
Bo'ness, who sit fourth, took the lead in the 17th minute when Jack Sharples netted at the near post from a corner.
Just before the half hour mark, the visitors doubled their advantage when Callum MacDonald looped a header into the net following a cross from the left, which saw Swifts turn around two goals down.
A third goal for Bo'ness arrived on the hour, when Sandy Cunningham finished a cross from the right from close range, following a move that began in their own half, before MacDonald scored his second, and his team's fourth, from inside the six-yard box.
The result means that the Swifts have picked up two points from their last five games, since a 1-0 win at Leith Athletic, Sibbald's first match in charge.
Coldstream 3 Oakley United 1
OAKLEY UNITED suffered only their second league defeat of the campaign after Coldstream fought back to win in the Borders.
Peter Goldie's side travelled south on a high, having reached the semi-finals of the Alex Jack Cup in comprehensive fashion against Kennoway Star Hearts, and had lost just one of their opening seven games in the Second Division.
They made the perfect start in their bid to continue the feel-good factor when Ryan Yapoudjian gave them a fifth minute lead, firing home from 10 yards after being set up by Blair Gallagher.
However, 10 minutes before the break, the home side levelled when Tam Hume headed home Regan Graham's free-kick to the back post, and the teams went in level at half-time.
The hosts had goalkeeper Matt Hall, who they picked as their man of the match, to thank for producing a couple of top class saves as Oakley continued to threaten, but Coldstream turned the contest on its head on the hour mark through an own goal.
With five minutes to go, it was all over for the O's when Thomas Grey scored the clinching goal, condemning them to defeat.
The Blairwood Park outfit are 12th in the 15-team table, having won two, drawn four and lost two matches, and their tally of 10 points is just six shy of West Calder United and Bathgate Thistle, who sit second and third respectively.
Saturday's fixture: East of Scotland League, Second Division: Oakley United v Stirling University (2.30pm).
