DUNFERMLINE ATHLETIC will travel to League Two Edinburgh City in the Scottish Gas Scottish Cup third round.

The ties for the next round of the competition were drawn at Hampden this evening, and the Pars have been handed a trip to the capital.

Kelty Hearts also face an away day, having been paired with another team from League Two, Elgin City, with the ties due to be played on the weekend of November 30.

Teams from the Championship and League One enter the tournament at the third round stage, and James McPake's Athletic were the last to be picked out.

Dunfermline Press:

They will go to Meadowbank Stadium to play Edinburgh City, relegated from League One last season and who sit seventh in the tier below, after they prevailed on penalties away to East of Scotland League, Premier Division Jeanfield Swifts, after a 1-1 draw.

It will be a second meeting between Dunfermline and City in the Scottish Cup, with the previous tie taking place in 1998 at East End Park, when Andy Smith scored five of Athletic's goals in a 7-2 success.

They most recently met in the 2022/23 season, in League One, which saw the Pars win three of their four meetings - including both in the capital - and drawing the other.

Michael Tidser's Kelty, meanwhile, will face Elgin for a third time this season in cup competitions.

The League One side, who were beaten at Stenhousemuir yesterday, travelled to Borough Briggs in the group stage of the Premier Sports Cup in July and drew 1-1, with the hosts earning a bonus point by winning a penalty shoot-out.

They were then paired together again in the SPFL Trust Trophy third round, with Kelty prevailing by a 3-1 scoreline at New Central Park.
