DUNFERMLINE Athletic Women will go into Scottish Cup action this weekend after continuing their perfect start to their league campaign.

Charles Dignan's team entertained Murieston United at Pitreavie in the SWFL (Scottish Women's Football League) Central league, and hit six of the best in a convincing victory.

Ellis Yeaman gave the Pars the lead before adding her second of the afternoon after Helen Templeton had doubled their advantage.

Alex Davie added her name to the scoresheet to make it 4-0, before Templeton completed her double, with Isla Ferguson completing a fine day's work with their sixth goal.

The result leaves Dunfermline with a maximum of nine points from three matches, and second in the table, behind early leaders Alloa Athletic.

This Sunday, Dignan's side continue their Scottish Gas Women's Scottish Cup campaign with a home tie against Barclays SWF Championship side, Stirling University.

Victories over Aberdeen FC Ladies and Bayside in the preliminary rounds of the competition was followed by a first round success over Kilwinning FA Ladies, by a 3-0 scoreline, of which Dignan said: "We have won three games now in the Scottish Cup, having scored 16 and only conceded one.

"Playing and beating Kilwinning, who are a league above us, is exactly why we gave ourselves a difficult pre-season. Having played Championship and League One sides, and not getting beat, during pre-season really creates that winning mindset and belief going into these big games.

"They won't all be like that, though, so it's important to stay grounded, self-aware, and keep working hard."

Kick off at Pitreavie is at 1.30pm.

Meanwhile, Bayside Ladies fell to their second SWFL Central league loss after a 12-goal thriller with Alloa.

In a closely-fought encounter, Amber Walker netted a brace, whilst Katie Robertson, Kerry Walker and Niamh Jackson also found the net, as Bayside hit five goals.

However, their opponents struck seven, leaving them top of the table, and Bayside sixth, with three points from three games.
