DUNFERMLINE Carnegie Hockey Club's men's firsts are still awaiting their first Scottish Hockey Men's Premiership win of the season but collected their first point at the weekend.

On Saturday, they welcomed Western Wildcats Hockey Club men's firsts to Dunfermline Learning Campus, with the visitors protecting a 100 per cent winning start to the campaign.

They scored four goals without reply to continue their winning streak, leaving the West Fifers bottom with eight defeats from eight, before they travelled to Dundee Wanderers Hockey Club men's firsts on Sunday.

Their trip to the City of Discovery proved fruitful, however, as the teams shared eight goals in a 4-4 draw, which, whilst leaving Dunfermline Carnegie still at the foot, gave them their first point ahead of their home match with Edinburgh University Hockey Club men's firsts on Saturday.

Elsewhere, in Scottish Hockey Men's Regional League Two, there was an 8-3 home reverse for the men's seconds against Erskine Stewarts Melville Hockey Club Men's seconds, but the men's thirds defeated Eskvale firsts 2-0 in the East Division One league.

The men's fours lost in East Division Three, 2-0, against Peebles, but the development team were 5-1 winners against Falkirk Development in Division Four.

Carnegie ladies firsts, meanwhile, played their first match at their new base at Dunfermline Learning Campus against Falkirk and Linlithgow Ladies in Scottish Hockey Womens Championship Two.

After the teams played out a 1-1 draw earlier in the season, it was set to be an event encounter from the start, and the first quarter was played at a high tempo.

There were chances for both teams, more of which from the circle came for Carnegie, but it was they who opened the scoring.

Playing with momentum following that strike, Carnegie, for whom Lisa Morrison was MVP (most valuable player) kept pressing, but the Falkirk defence held, and the game went into the third quarter with just one goal in the match.

With the last quarter in play, legs were tired and Falkirk were able to take advantage and equalise, before turning the match around by scoring a decisive second goal.

In Women's East Division Two, Carnegie ladies seconds played Peebles, and Gill Oswald twice came close to giving them the lead.

Carnegie's defence was solid and it seemed, at several points during the game, that they would take the lead, with Clare Morgan, Sophie Lacey and Gabbi Wood all going close, but the match ended goalless, with Laura Donaldson voted MVP.

In Division Five, Carnegie thirds travelled to Livingston and West Lothian seconds, and returned home with a 1-1 draw.

They opened the scoring after half-time when Joanna Blackwood's short corner to Fiona McPhie saw her hit to the left of the goal, which was then deflected in by MVP Heidi Cameron.

However, their hosts hit back with an equaliser in the same quarter and, although Kate Wallace struck the post, and Carnegie went down to 10 players with an injury late on, they secured a point.
