THE Athletic squad are not worried by their league position and believe that they can turn it around quickly.
That's the view of full-back, Kieran Ngwenya, who feels that they can climb the table as their performances "don't warrant" their current Championship placing.
Second bottom Pars travel to Queen's Park tomorrow looking for just their third league win of the campaign, and their first away from home, as they bid to bounce back from Saturday's home loss to Partick Thistle.
That came four days after they had thumped promotion contenders Livingston 3-0 at KDM Group East End Park, which Ngwenya said is the type of performance that can hoist them upwards if they are replicated.
"I think it's been a long time coming," the 22-year-old said of that result.
"The performances have been a lot better in the last few weeks than they were at the start of the season, so I think it was a matter of time before something clicked and the goals actually started to come our way because, in terms of conceding, there's a lot of teams in the league who concede more than us that are actually higher than us on the table.

"I just think in that Livingston game, the chances that did come our way, we were really clinical with that game and I think that shows in the result.
"So, if we can replicate that more often going forward, I think we can climb the table really quickly because our performances don't warrant us being ninth in the league.

"It's just building that consistency and confidence amongst the boys, which I think will come. With a couple of results, things can change internally very, very quickly.
"No-one in the building is worried. We're all confident that we can turn it around and go on a good run so, yeah, looking forward to the games to come.
"I think if we can keep the performances the same level that we have, we've got every chance of winning the game this weekend."

Emphasis on set pieces
Dunfermline were beaten by Callum Davidson's Spiders at home in September, and have only one won of their last five meetings with the Glasgow side, losing three and drawing one of the last four.
Two goals conceded from corners proved to be Athletic's undoing in their last clash with Queen's Park, whilst Thistle's winning goal at the weekend also came from a set play.
"The game we played against Queen's Park last time at home was settled by set pieces," Ngwenya noted.
"We made a couple of sloppy mistakes from set pieces and it cost us the game. I think the last half hour we were on top of them, (but we) could have created a lot more chances.
"If we can be tight defensively this weekend, and continue pressing and being as aggressive as we have been, there's no reason we can't win the game. I think everyone in the building is confident going into it that we can go there and get a result.
"We always work on set pieces every single week but, ultimately, we are human, and we're going to make mistakes. It is always something we focus on. The manager makes a big emphasis on set pieces and defending set pieces because it's often set pieces that can win or lose you games."
Aiming for better Hampden memories
An away to Queen's Park means a visit to the national stadium, and Ngwenya revealed he is hoping to come away with better memories than a previous visit last season, whilst on loan at Partick.
"Yeah, I don't have the best memories playing there," he added.
"I tore ligaments in my ankle the first time I went there. Not the best memories, but it'll be good to be back and hopefully make some good ones this year.
"It was last October. I ended up missing three or four months because of that. It was tough, but I made the recovery and I'm back playing now. It's in the past."
