DUNFERMLINE manager James McPake will be setting his sights on cup success as he prepares for his side’s quarter-final tie against Alloa.
The Clacks side visit KDM East End Park on Tuesday evening and the Pars boss is hoping to see his side produce a performance to overcome their league one opponents.
“Every time I talk about it I say I want to win that competition,” he said. “It's the only trophy that the Premiership teams aren't in.
“We know it'll be a tough game, but if we perform the way we did in that second half (against Queens Park), and I'll pick a team that I trust to go out and carry that out, then I'm hopeful that come Tuesday, we take that performance in. If we do that, we'll be okay.
“Let's be honest, that first half performance (at Hampden), I would expect Alloa to beat us as well. As I say, we were lucky to be only 1-0 down, that was thanks to our goalkeeper who's been excellent. But, if we perform like that, you're not going to win any games of football at any professional level.
“Alloa are a good team and they're going well in that league. But, it's a chance to get to a semi-final.
“In my time in management, I've never really had a run in this cup. I've watched other clubs win it and I've been a bit jealous.
“So, since the start of this season, we set a stall out and say we're desperate to go and have a run in this cup and go and try and win it and that's what we're going to try and do.”
