DUNFERMLINE Carnegie Hockey Club's men's firsts are still searching for a first Scottish Hockey Men's Premiership win of the season after suffering a tough defeat on Saturday.

Having picked up their first point of the campaign the previous weekend, in a 4-4 draw away to Dundee Wanderers Hockey Club men's firsts last Sunday, the team hosted Edinburgh University Hockey Club men's firsts at Dunfermline Learning Campus.

Despite producing a solid three quarters of play against their opponents, Carnegie were punished in the final quarter, with the capital outfit running out winners by a 6-0 scoreline.

After 10 matches, they are bottom of the table, and are due to travel to FSEG Clydesdale Hockey Club men's firsts this Saturday.

There was, however, better fortune for Carnegie men's seconds in Scottish Hockey Men's Regional League Two when they took on Grange Hockey men's threes.

After losing out to Erskine Stewarts Melville Hockey Club men's seconds in their last match, they picked up a 4-2 success, their third of the season, which leaves them sixth in the standings.

In the Scottish Hockey East District Division One, the men's thirds, who defeated Eskvale firsts 2-0 the previous week, were defeated 3-0 by Edinburgh University fives, whilst the men's fours were beaten 3-2 by Watsonians Colts thirds in Division Three.

In Division Four, the men's development side followed up their victory over Falkirk Development last weekend with a 7-1 win over Grange sevens.

Meanwhile, there was only one team from the ladies section of the club in action at the weekend.

Carnegie thirds, who last time out drew at Livingston and West Lothian seconds, were on the road to Kelso thirds in Division Five of the east district league.

Two goals by the hosts in quick succession, during the opening minutes of the game, set the tone for a fast-paced match.

Throughout the first half, Carnegie were strong in defence against short corners, but Kelso added two more goals before the midway point.

Dunfermline, whose MVP's were Fiona McPhie and Caz Russell, defended strongly in the third quarter, keeping their opponents out, but they conceded twice more in the fourth as Kelso ran out 6-0 winners.

The previous weekend saw the firsts play their first match at Dunfermline Learning Campus, losing out to Falkirk and Linlithgow Ladies in Scottish Hockey Women's Championship Two, whilst the seconds played out a goalless East Division Two draw with Peebles.
