GYMNASTS from Acrobay enjoyed a successful start to the season by bagging medals at a national competition.
Members of the club, which is based in Rosyth, recently travelled to the Scottish Acrobatic Tournament and Beginners event, at Ravenscraig Regional Sports Facility, in Motherwell, and won a huge haul of 42 gongs.
Competitors from the mini's squads, and grades one to five, youth and IDP categories, took to the floor and represented themselves and the club with style.
For many of the younger gymnasts, this was the first time competing outside of a club environment, and club coaches were proud of how they coped with this first outing.
Potential for a successful season of competitions lies ahead, with coaches and gymnasts aiming to further improve on their performances each time they compete, and head coach, Suzanne Fraser, said: "We have a wealth of talent in the club, it is extremely exciting to see what this generation of Acrobay gymnasts can achieve with the help and guidance of our amazing coaching team.
"We have previously had some highly successful competition seasons, and this one looks to be another promising season for our gymnasts."
Of the medal total, achieved across all 26 categories that Acrobay gymnasts competed in, the mini's squad, taking part in the beginner's competition, won eight gold, four silver and five bronze in pair and individual events, whilst those in the grade one to five, youth and IDP categories secured 13 gold, seven silver and five bronze medals.
Meanwhile, five Acrobay gymnasts, from their FIG group, were selected to represent Great Britain this month.
The women's group of Scarlett Haldane, Emma Nelson and Ella Gracie, and the women's pair of Caitlin MacKinnon and Myla Love, were chosen to participate in the 16th Grand Prix of Poland, which was held from November 7-11.
It was the first time that the club has had more than one partnership selected onto the British team for the same event, which was achieved after a year of competing and attending team trial events for both that event and the 2024 World Championships in Poland.
Suzanne, also part of the team as a British coach, added: "We are lucky to have role models like this in our club.
"These girls have shown what it takes to reach the goals set out by themselves."
