Dunfermline Athletic Women have moved to the top of their league after picking up a comprehensive victory at the weekend.

Charles Dignan's team maintained their perfect start to the SWFL (Scottish Women's Football League) Central division with a 24-1 win over bottom side, and newly-established, Carron Huskies.

The Pars have won five matches from five in the league, having won 3-1 at Glasgow Girls and Women in their previous league match, scoring 42 goals whilst conceding only five, to sit two points clear of Linlithgow Rose - the division's only other unbeaten side - and three ahead of Alloa Athletic, who they are scheduled to face on Sunday.

The result provided the ideal response to an agonising defeat on penalties in the ScottishPower Regional League Cup the previous weekend.

Having progressed through the group phase of the competition, Dunfermline hosted SWFL South league leaders Cambusdoon Ladies, and it proved to be a dramatic encounter.

The visitors took the lead but goals from Helen Templeton and Taylor Shields turned the tie around, only for the Alloway-based side to equalise.

Alex Davie then put the Pars ahead again, but a last minute equaliser from Sarah Nairn forced extra-time and, after the teams couldn't be separated, the Ayrshire team prevailed 4-3 in a shoot-out from 12 yards.

Elsewhere, Bayside Ladies picked up their second win of the SWFL Central season by defeating Central Ladies at Pitreavie.

A four-goal haul from player and head coach, Kerry Walker, and an effort from Rebecca McAdam, gave them a 5-0 victory to leave them sixth in the table.

The previous week, Bayside played out a 2-2 draw with McDermid Ladies in a friendly, with Amber Walker and Lauren Jackson on the scoresheet, which came after their previous league outing, which ended in defeat at Cumbernauld Ladies.

This Sunday, they are due to travel to Murieston United in their next SWFL Central match.

Meanwhile, both Dunfermline and Bayside will be hoping to celebrate award wins at Saturday's ScottishPower Scottish Women's Football Awards.

The event, which will be held at Hampden, will celebrate success on and off the field across 16 categories, from international stars to volunteers who provide opportunities for women and girls to play the game.

Pars forward Alex Davie is in the running for the SWFL Player of the Year prize, alongside Armadale Ladies' Katie Hay, Dunipace player Claire Hutton, and Sarah Tait, of Ayr United Development / Cambusdoon.

In addition, Bayside's YPL (Youth Performance League) under-16s team have been put forward for Youth Team of the Year, alongside Ross County under-18s, Musselburgh Windsor YPL and Glasgow Girls under-14s, whilst club coach, Paul Murray, has been shortlisted in the Youth Coach of the Year category, with Steven McLean (Jeanfield Swifts), Mick Docherty (Rossvale), and Iain Maciver (Ross County).
